From walter.warwick at gmail.com Mon Jan 4 20:07:37 2010 From: walter.warwick at gmail.com (Walter Warwick) Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 21:07:37 -0700 Subject: [CBCmembers] *Provisional* Results for the Jan 3, 2010 Sprint Message-ID: Hi CBCers, First of all, thanks to all of you who came out and raced and a double thanks to those who showed up and helped out (especially to Scott Schwartz for serving as on-the-spot timing chief). It is the biggest field I've seen at a CBC event in my tenure with the club. Fantastic! But we can't do this without all the generous volunteer support we get from you, not to mention the welcome dose of patience from everyone on race day. Keep it coming. I've attached provisional results. I've tried to capture gross distinctions in distance, gender and category (carry vs no carry, NC). Fine age distinctions within a category are just noted (you'll have to do your homework to see how you stack up against those older and younger...). Please have a look and let me know if you spot any mistakes. Again, it is wonderful to see so many folks out racing. Next up is a two-race weekend January 16 and 17. We'll be making a few small tweaks to the program to try to get two waves of mass start to run smoothly on Saturday (we'll likely include two, shorter zero periods, one before each wave). Details will follow soon, but we'll again count on you, dear racers to help pitch in on race day. Until then, happy skiing, Walter, CBC President -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... See: http://www.coloradobiathlon.org/schedule.html Pre-registration is *strongly* encouraged. It makes things easier for the race management, which in turn makes them happier, which results in a generally festive air about the range and an enjoyable experience for all . Please note the race-day schedules at the URL above. In particular, note that Sunday's event schedule starts everything half an hour *earlier* than Saturday's event schedule. Zero periods are only 30 minutes long, but there will be one for each wave. You can buy yourself some extra time in the morning by -- you guessed it -- pre-registering. Finally, remember that before stepping onto the trails all volunteers and competitors need to stop by the nordic center (downstairs) and request a trail pass. Tell the person behind the counter you're competing in or volunteering for the biathlon event. You do not need to pay for the pass. See you at the range! We're covered for Course Chief (thanks Brian) and I'll be leading the charge as Comp Chief, but we need folks for Range and Timing. We can start the range set up after Saturday's race, so things should go pretty smoothly on Sunday and the wave star and two zero periods should make it relatively painless to split both range and timing so no one has to turf a race opportunity. But we still need bodies. So, please let me know if you can volunteer as a range or timing chief on Sunday. I'll need to make a go-no-go decision for Sunday's race on Saturday; if we can't cover Range and Timing we can't race. Please take a look and let me know if anything is amiss (times, shoot order, class, spelling etc). I thought it was another fine day of racing after Saturday's excellent Mass Start events. And I am, as always, grateful for the support of our cracker-jack volunteer race staff and all the other folks who pitch in during the race. Merci Beaucoup. Up next the State Championships and, after that, our season-ending Individual. I'm inclined to run that last race at its full soul-crushing dehumanizing distances (20km, 15km etc). Cue Sly Stallone's "Eye of the Tiger" training montage. See you at the races! Walter, CBC President -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
